After dealing with a first aid emergency, it is important to make sure that your hands are clean, even if you have used gloves and they look perfectly clean.

Hold a tissue or dressing in the hand that you are using to turn on the tap, this will avoid transferring anything from your hands onto the tap itself.

Remove your watch if you are wearing one, wet your hands and forearms under the tap, take some anti-bacterial soap and wash them as demonstrated in the video.

When you have thoroughly washed your hands, wash your forearms.  Check you hands, nails and forearms to make sure they are clean before drying.

If you use a towel to dry your hands and arms, put it in the laundry straight away, if using disposable towels or tissues, make sure that they are disposed of appropriately.

If you have sanitising gel or alcohol gel, use this after you have washed and dried your hands.

Sanitising gels or alcohol gels should be used if you are in a situation where there is no water and soap available, thoroughly clean your hands with the gel as demonstrated in the video.
