Action to be taken when abuse suspected

•   Duty to report
•   Consider if the police are needed to protect the person or remove the casualty in an ambulance to treat them
•   Make a note of own concerns as soon as practicably possible after the event, including what has happened and any action you have taken
•   Follow local policy and methods of reporting.
•   Do not start to investigate the situation or confront the person thought responsible for the abuse
•   Identify and be mindful of sources of evidence.
•   Relay your concerns to the next level of patient care as soon as possible
